Scary Jack Layton Making Demands

Jack Layton says it's up to the prime minister to show that he's interested in dealing with issues like the environment, health care and the softwood lumber dispute with the United States. Layton says his party's support isn't guaranteed for those votes.

Probably a coincedence that a new national poll suggests government corruption now ranks with health care as the number one concern among voters.

My message to Jack - swaying with the polls is so sad - stand up for your principles no matter what the polls say - like the Conservatives do and did!

Jack is standing up for his principles. He has set the requirements for the NDP's support of the government. These requirements are NDP principles, and he is working to get them implemented.

The Conservatives, if they are standing up for their principles, seem only to want to depose the Liberals, without making any motions towards implementing the platform they were elected on... which should be easy for them to do, if only they'd reorganize their offensive to productive means instead of their playground pranks.

Basically we have two national opposition parties. One is trying to implement the platform they were elected on, using such parlimentary devices as brinkmanship and compromise. The other is trying to sink parliment by using brinkmanship and making a lot of hot air (not that the Liberal party is much better than the Conservatives in this).

So, basically, if the NDP are to stand up for their principles they are to work to see them put in place. I don't see the Conservatives doing that--unless their only principled stand is to oust the government.

I'm looking forward to the election when the question is asked of Jack Layton - how much of that $4.5 billion bribe you received to prop up this tired old Liberal regime, has been or is being spent?

Answer: NONE!

I don't know about the NDP's policies but this NDPer
thinks that "you need is an economic downturn. People vote left when they need gov't assistance."

Now I know why the NDP wanted 4 billion in spending a dropping 4 billion in corporate taxes - they are attempting to crash the economy for votes.

Nice principles!
