NDP oppose hospital funding

This headline will not appear on the CBC ... apparently the NDP believe money grows on trees!

The health critic for the Ontario NDP called on the Ontario Liberals to immediately divulge financial details on the ReNew Ontario plan, which gives $30 billion for the development of public facilities, including Montfort's makeover. While it was reported that most of the money would be funded through direct investments by the province, about 10% was to come from alternative financing sources.

Ohhhh! Private financing! Scary!

Boy scouts evil? God must be too!

Boy Scouts will have to find another location for their next gathering as a federal judge recently ruled that the Pentagon can no longer financially support the event.

A lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois contends that the Defence Department's sponsorship violates the First Amendment because the Scouts require members to swear an oath of duty to God.

On Tuesday, the Senate took a step toward allowing U.S. military bases to continue to host Boy Scouts events. By 98-0, the Senate approved the measure in a provision that's part of a bill setting Defence Department policy for next year.

In exchange for getting use of the army training base, the Scouts have spent about $20 million US on base improvements that include road paving and plumbing upgrades. The army says it uses the Jamboree as an opportunity to train personnel in crowd control, communications and other logistical skills.

Stop! You're ruining Canada!

Lorrie Goldstein, a columnist for the Sun, has an article on his 30 people who are screwing (or screwed) up Canada.

I agree with most of the people on his list take away all the tree huggers who have been crying that the sky is falling for 30 years - sky is right where it always was boys and girls! Rick Mercer is #14 "because ever since those "One Tonne Challenge" commercials, he's just not that funny anymore.)"! Mercer Watcher are you getting this!

1) Every Liberal Prime Minister after Lester B. Pearson.

2) Jack Layton - trying to say 4.6 billion was "pumped" into the economy when it's only going to feed the big red machine of waste is not very smart!

3) Dalton McGuinty - made lying to get elected fashionable again (after 8 years of Mike actually making and keeping his promises).

4) Rick Mercer - not because he's just not funny - but for making American bashing mainstream. If he did his little streeters in downtown Toronto, he would have more than enough stupidity to fill up 22 minutes. Honorable mention to Carolyn Parrish.

5) Bob Goodenow - and of course the brain washed zombie hockey players - no hockey makes Pale a dull blogger! !!!

Study Finds Value in Spam

According to a Life Science study, email spam is good for you.

Researchers split a group of more than 2,100 Canadians into two groups. One group got emails that promoted healthy lifestyles, the other got none. "These were informative and motivational messages sent weekly for 12 weeks," explained study leader Ron Plotnikoff of the University of Alberta. The emails promoted the benefits of a good diet and physical activity.

Those who were effectively spammed, as a group, saw their mean body mass index (BMI) go down, meaning it improved. BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. Overall BMI rose for the control group, which did not get the emails.

So should the Conservatives spam Canadians for the next 12 weeks on the benefits of a Conservative government - next stop - majority on Parliament Hill?
