Dalton McGuinty in Action!

Not happy to just break his promises, provincial Fiberal leader Dalton McGuinty is now trying to keep his promises by lowering provincial education standards. Christina Blizzard writes that "Students in Grades 3 and 6 are also allowed dictionaries, spellcheckers, thesauruses (thesauri?) and computers, if the student usually uses one. Sheesh. Why not go all the way and let mom and dad come into the test as well and give the kid the answers? Let's not bother teaching kids their times tables any more. They can just haul around a calculator for the rest of their lives."

What's next? For his promise of reduced waiting times for medical procedures is he going to redefine "waiting time" to mean from the time you enter the hospital to the time the surgery begins and call the two yeas before that pre-waiting time?

Probably could get re-elected in Ontario though - Promise made, Promise kept!

What's up with Rickie - all the funny Canadian comedians are out in the world making funny movies/ tv shows in Hollywood while he is pimping Kyoto for the feds and collecting a government paycheck for unfunny attacks on anything conservative. Now he has an unfunny blog attacking conservatives.

My tax dollars pay for your salary Rick - be funny! Dance clown dance! Be funny! Now!

CPP death squad??

So the CPP investment board think tobacco companies are a good investment. Are they looking for short term returns on their investment or have they determined that over the long term the more Canadians that die of lung cancer the less the CPP fund has to pay out?

If this is the case, should they lobby to get rid of the firearms center so that more Canadians can be murdered by kill happy farmers and turkey hunters?

The Book Worm virus

AlsoCanadian has now infected this blog with the worm spreading through cyberspace. This "book" worm seems to infect the host computer and lists information regarding the users reading habits. It then replicates itself and sends 5 copies to other machines downline of the host.

1. How many books do you own? Answer: 1 (153 – random number between 100 and 200)

2. What is the latest book you bought? Answer: The Last King : Rome's Greatest Enemy

“Though other enemies of Rome have had greater play in the history books, none were as feared or as respected by the ancient Romans as the Persian-born, Greek- educated ruler of the relatively small eastern kingdom on the edge of the Black Sea.”

3. What is the last book you read? Answer: See answer to number2 above)

4. Which 5 books mean a lot to you?

1) Lord of the Rings series including the Hobbit – I have read these several times and have the movies on DVD, saw the animated movie at the theatre, and even listened to the radio play.

2) Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond

"History followed different courses for different peoples because of differences among peoples' environments, not because of biological differences among peoples themselves." Those who domesticated plants and animals early got a head start on developing writing, government, technology, weapons of war, and immunity to deadly germs.

Good advice?

Check out this article.

"The hard evidence provided by the Gomery Enquiry has given the Conservatives the opportunity in both Parliament and the public square to deliver to voters the message, "Don't trust the Liberals." Likewise, when the Liberals allege the Conservatives have "a hidden agenda" they are saying, "Don't trust the Conservatives." But, unlike the Conservatives they have no single focus for their claim which is, therefore, more in the nature of a collective ad hominem attack on the Conservative party. The Liberal's goal is almost certainly to elicit a generalized fear of the Conservatives among voters in relation to social-ethical values issues and a belief that the Conservatives cannot be trusted on these issues—a tactic that, according to pollsters, had dramatic impact in causing initially undecided voters in the last federal election, who late in the election campaign had decided to vote Conservative, to switch their vote to Liberal on their way to the ballot box."

Seven Things You Can’t Say in Canada

Check out the reasons behind these on the Readers Digest site-I've pretty much said all of them!

1-Margaret Atwood writes some really awful books.
2-Recycling is a waste of time and money.
3-Only private enterprise can save public health care.
4-David Suzuki is bad for the environment.
5-A national daycare program won’t do a thing to help poor kids.
6-Group of Seven artists are overexposed genre painters.
7-The United States is the greatest force for good the world has ever known.

You can add yours at the bottom.

Mine - "I do not find Stephen Harper to be a scary man with a secret agenda."

The Big Red Machine ...

Wow! The Liberals must be celebrating their big victory tonight! (Paulie: “Belinda … get down from the speaker … get down … it was cute the first time … get down …now .... I’m telling your Daddy on you!”

Did anyone honestly expect Paulie to ask Ujjal and PMO-Tim to step down? Of course not. The tactics used by these two are the same tactics Paulie used last week, last month, and last year. Chrétien used these schemes on Turner and Paulie used them on Chrétien - there are 2 or 3 Liberals already employing these strategies on Paulie! It’s the way the Liberals do business.

Look at the reaction to Grewal shining a bit of light on the Liberal’s odious tactics. Newspapers, TV and radio stations, this pundit – that expert – the Big Red Machine in all of its glory!

Grewal was like a tiny spark that started a little grass fire. Instead of doing a little control burn to contain the fire, they dropped a nuclear bomb on it. Good tactics there! Grewal is someone you don’t want to play against but you keep him in front of you at all times - a pretty small fish. Exposing their whole tool box just on him is not terribly smart. The more times we see these tools in action, we see how small their toolbox is and how easy it is to expose their Hypocrisy.

I guess Paulie never read The Art of War!

“Move not unless you see an advantage; use not your troops unless there is something to be gained; fight not unless the position is critical. [XII:17]

No ruler should put troops into the field merely to gratify his own spleen; no general should fight a battle simply out of pique. Anger may in time change to gladness; vexation may be succeeded by content. But a kingdom that has once been destroyed can never come again into being; nor can the dead ever be brought back to life. [XII:18-21]”

PQ Leader Bernard steps down

Canoe is reporting that PQ Leader Bernard Landry is steping down after receiving 76.2 per cent in a confidence vote on his leadership with more to follow.

What's up with the separatists? They vote with the Liberals federally on one bill and now their provincial leader resigns? Are there any open cabinet positions?

Karla. Karla, Karla ...

Karla Homolka's conditions for release are pretty weak considering the damage she did. She's forbidden from consorting with violent criminals, can't contact her onetime partner in crime and ex-husband, Paul Bernardo, and is ordered to stay in touch with police about her whereabouts, avoid consorting with children under 16 and to stay away from her victims for at least a 12-month period.

Other restrictions for the 12 months (after that she is free) include:

Check in with police once a month. Wow really?
Give police her address and tell them about her job and roommates. That’s good!
Advise police of any change in her name or address.
Stay way from drugs. Aren’t drugs illegal?
Not work anywhere she would have access to barbiturates. Violent criminals can work where they have easy access to drugs?
Not work with people under 16 or have any ties of authority with anyone under 16. Well D’uh!
Undergo regular therapy. Not that she has started that already.
Give a DNA sample.
Stay away from the families of her victims. Only for a year?
Not associate with violent criminals. Regular criminals are o.k?
Give police 96 hours' notice if she wants to leave Quebec.

Tapes what Tapes?

Take away all the conversations between Grewal and Dosanj. PMO Tim says the most damaging portions and those parts are undisputed and in English - well politician which is kinda like English.

Peter says it best :

"(It's) an attempt to discredit what was said on the tapes," said Tory deputy leader Peter MacKay.

"For proof as to whether the prime minister and the government are capable of this he only has to swivel his head in his seat and take a look at his cabinet.

"And take a look at the number who have crossed the floor for either cabinet positions or parliamentary secretary positions."

Beware the Bureaucrat!

Military and civilian intelligence agancies tend to focus on terrorists, foreign countries, or hackers as the usual potential perpetrators of a large-scale disruptive cyber attack.

DND has a more dangerous group in mind - disgruntled Ottawa public servants.

Is there something these governments employees know that make them a threat to the Liberal government? Are they the next scape-goat? Are they scarier than Stephen Harper?

Do I need to take my tinfoil hat off?

We live in interesting times!
