PQ Leader Bernard steps down

Canoe is reporting that PQ Leader Bernard Landry is steping down after receiving 76.2 per cent in a confidence vote on his leadership with more to follow.

What's up with the separatists? They vote with the Liberals federally on one bill and now their provincial leader resigns? Are there any open cabinet positions?

That's interesting - 76% isn't "massive." Ha! No wonder Martin was surprised (although I'm not sure what sort of support he has as leader of the limping Libs anymore, maybe he has a better idea?). Harper was happy with what, 84% or something like that?

I'd heard over on CQ that Duceppe's plan may be to first win a federal election (again), i.e. get more seats in Quebec since he can't really win a federal election, and then resign & run for leader of the PQ in time for the next election.

This must really throw a spanner into those plans. Watch the Bloc REALLY begin to push for an election if the commenter at CQ was right.

Are you saying Landry will turn up as the new Liberal intergovernmental affairs ministre?
